After a 15-years hiatus, San Diego's Dewey Defeats Truman is back with a vengeance.

Gritty, old-school guitar-driven indie rock from San Diego, CA. In the early '00's, the band recorded and toured for several years, then went on hiatus. In 2019, the band reformed upon request for two reunion shows celebrating 30 years of local radio station 91x and legendary local rock club the Casbah. Now again active, the band has been writing new material for release on Silver Girl Records.

After a 15 year hiatus, San Diego indie rock band Dewey Defeats Truman is back. In the late 1990's, from the ashes of the bands Red Dye No. 5 and Luper, Dewey Defeats Truman was born. Red Dye No.5's James Reader (bass, vocals) and Scott Frazier (drums) met Mark MacBride (guitar, vocals) at seminal San Diego rock club The Casbah. The trio recorded and began touring - playing opening slots for Jesus Lizard, Archers of Loaf and Kelley Deal, and appearing at influential festivals such as NXNW in Portland, SXSW in Austin, and CMJ Music Festival in New York City. Following their 2001 debut "B-Sides, Rarities and Out-Takes" on Silver Girl Records, the band released the "Road to Nowhere Maps EP" (in 2002) on the label Has Anyone Ever Told You. Following more tours, the band went dormant in 2003. In December 2018, the band reformed and has been playing live shows and releasing new music and videos.
